Cheswold, Nov 20th 2011, IUSD celebrated its annual Diwali event with great spirit. There were over 250 guests in attendance. This year dinner catered by Rajbhog was served before entertainment. Everybody enjoyed delicious dinner combination of Indian cuisine from various parts of India. Dinner was followed by Live Performance "Ek Sham Rafi Ke Naam" presented by Kaushal Thakkar of 999 Enterprises. Show featured Prachi Shah of Sare Ga Ma Pa fame. Guests were taken to bygone era of Mohammed Rafi by Nafis Anand and attendees were dancing to melodious tunes. Another singer Mihir entertained crowd with some recent Bollywood numbers. Pictures
Garba celebrated with Festival Spirit
IUSD Garba event was celebrated with great enthusiasm by welcoming Indian festival seasons. DJ Shamil enrgized the youth and got them involved with non-stop dancing. Best dance performance winners received free entry for upcoming IUSD Diwali event. Event was a great fun for all ages and people left with an unforgatable memory. Pictures
IUSD Celebrates independence Day of India
The Occasion of Summer Picnic, IUSD members gathered and celebrated 65th anniversary of Independence Day of India. Every Independence Day gives us all a sense of pride for our country, and help us celebrate the spirit and the day to remember our leaders who scarified themself for the freedom. Despite bad weather people turned up and had fun. Hot bhajia by Hansa Ben and Corn grilled by Mike was a great start for the event. Everyone enjoyed the Cricket match between youth members and adults. We heard positive comments form all those who attended the event. People liked Independence day concept.

Dover Nov 23 2010, IUSD organized thanksgiving dinner for Dover Interfaith Mission For Housing. IUSD volunteers along with youth members cooked, served and played quiz games with residents. Winners received gifts. Food was served for over 35 people. Prameela, OP, Sanjay, Mahendra, Mike, Ballu, Anu along with youth members Sagar, Shivani, Soniya, Shenil and Sri attend to serve. History Behind
India US Society of Delaware, a non-profit organization
was established in 1997 for serving the Indians and Americans living in
Kent and Sussex county. Their mission is to help integrate the cultural
differences and serve the local community by organizing various cultural
events, charitable donations, support groups and attending other local
events which are non secular. Currently we have 31 life members, 50 Annual
family members and 3 Annual Individual members. India U.S Society of Delaware
was form in 1997 and registered in Delaware under Social Club under
Internal Revenue Code Section 501 (c) (07). The Employer Identification
Number for the Society is 51-0380258.
Origanization has the following
Objectives.
a. To sustain
and perpetuate the cultural heritage of India among the Indian community
in the State of Delaware; b. To work for the general civic, moral and
social benefit and welfare of the members of the Society; c. To promote
inter-cultural activities in Delaware community for better awareness of
Indian heritage and community relations; d. To form affiliation and
cooperation with other national and regional organizations for common
cause of Indian nationals in U.S.; e. To seek
donations and other forms of financial support for meeting the Society’s
efforts, as permissible under the IRS Code.
